How NOT To Forget Your Anniversary: A simple Guide
The average father is by no means a stupid man; most can tell you with certainty the current value of their savings or stocks and without hesitation recite the win to loss record of their favorite sports team over the last five years. Many however seem to have a exceptionally hard time remembering simple things such as a anniversary or a birthday. Legion are the men who have realized with sickening certainty that their anniversary was upon them and they had prepared nothing. Panicked they begin the desperate rush for gifts and or meals. Knowing deep in their hearts, no amount of effort at this late date will make up for proper preparation. Luckily modern technology has come to our rescue.
There are several ways that we as fathers can end this cycle. Most of us are sick of looking like morons and if we must use technology to do it, then so be it. This list is very basic but due the large number of fellows running around forgetting things like anniversaries, birthdays or God forbid a pre-natal ultrasound appointment, the need for some sort of organization is apparent.
Choose one and use it.
Online: Take a moment to search the web, you will find several sites that are ready, willing and able to send you reminders several days before that important date. You can sign up for email reminders or text reminders sent to your mobile device if you so wish. Many of these services are free, some are not. They all however are hoping that you will make use of the extra services they offer such as e-cards, paper cards and gift delivery.
Mobile device: Many of the current generation of mobile devices allow for an extensive calendar and meeting/reminder setup. Do yourself a favor if you have one of these devices, use it.
Computer based scheduler: Many of us work with programs such as Outlook or Outlook express every day. These programs have very powerful reminder tools for meetings and events that can be setup for the entire year and on into the future with very little effort.
All we need to do is add the information for important dates once into any of these systems and we just might make it an entire year not looking like a jackass because we forgot a important event.
